He took the trouble to make a beautiful fair copy of this work. It's a product of his maturity. But since these pieces serve as a basic tool for learning the piano, they're inevitably overshadowed by the larger cycles, like The Well-Tempered Clavier, the Goldberg Variations, The Art of Fugue and so on. 説明: This album, which focuses on arias from Handel's more rarely-performed operas, is the first that Philippe Jaroussky has devoted entirely to the composer – though his Erato discography already includes complete recordings of Faramondo, Partenope and, on DVD, Alcina, and arias by Handel feature on the countertenor's Carestini: A Castrato's Story. Praising Jaroussky in Handel, the New York Times has described him as "incomparable… thrilling of voice." Now, for the first time, Jaroussky brings his impeccable Handelian credentials to an entire album devoted to arias by the composer, who produced thirty-five operas for the London stage between 1711 and 1741. For all Handel's current popularity, comparatively few of his operas are performed with great regularity. Works such as Giulio Cesare, Alcina, Ariodante, Agrippina, Serse, Rodelinda, Rinaldo, Partenope, Orlando, and Tamerlano have achieved varying degrees of currency, but, apart from an aria from Rodelinda, Jaroussky's new album puts the emphasis on operas we are less likely to hear in the theatre or concert hall: Amadigi di Gaula; Arianna in Creta; Flavio, re di Longobardi; Giustino; Imeneo; Radamisto (represented by no fewer than four arias); Riccardo primo, re d'Inghilterra; Siroe, re di Persia and Tolomeo, re di Egitto. 説明: Amazonレビュー Volume 10 of the Bach Collegium Japan's cantata series is as beautiful as any of its predecessors, but it's rather less upbeat–the texts concern the sinner's anguished remorse, the rebuke of hypocrites, and the like. This brings up one frequent criticism of BCJ director Masaaki Suzuki's work: his relatively contemplative, reverent (in the best sense) approach sometimes short-changes the music's emotional intensity. This is the issue in BWV 105, "Herr, gehe nicht ins Gericht" (the anguished remorse cantata)–the soprano aria in particular speaks of the sinner's thoughts "trembling and staggering," yet soprano Miah Persson and oboist Masamitsu Sannomiya seem to contemplate the situation with a rueful smile and shake of the head. One can imagine a more dramatic delivery, but the effect here is lovely nevertheless, especially if you're sometimes put off (as I am) by Bach's Lutheran angst mode. BWV 179, "Siehe du, daﾟ deine Gottesfurcht" (the one about hypocrisy) gets a more emphatic performance; BWV 186, "ﾄrgre dich, O Seele, nicht" ("Do not vex thyself, O soul") has an almost cheery aspect despite its prevailing minor-key tonality. The four soloists, chorus, and period-instrument orchestra all perform with clarity, warmth, and finesse–but then, they always do. –Matthew Westphal（全文はこちら）
