She made her debut as a singer with the theme song "Sailor Suit and Machine Gun". Since then, she has starred in movies and sung theme songs for numerous hits including "Detective Story", "Main Theme", and "Woman from 'The Tragedy of W'". In the 2000s, she has gained a high reputation as one of Japan's leading actresses through her appearances in movies such as "Kisarazu Cat's Eye" and "Always: Sunset on Third Street," dramas such as "Ama-chan", "Yell", and "Saiai", and many other movies and dramas. 薬師丸 ひろ子（やくしまる ひろこ、本名：薬師丸 博子（読み同じ）、1964年〈昭和39年〉6月9日 – ）は、日本の女優、歌手。東京都港区北青山出身。1978年のデビュー以来、角川映画の中心的存在として人気の頂点を極め、2000年代からは母親役が似合い、シリアスからコメディな役まで主演・助演の両方をこなすベテラン女優として、また、円熟した歌手として活躍している。 東京都立八潮高等学校、玉川大学文学部英米文学科卒業。（出典：Wikipedia）
