熊本県出身・1月30日生まれ。 1973年3月25日、シングル『かくれんぼ』でデビュー。『津軽海峡・冬景色』で第19回日本レコード大賞歌唱賞を、『波止場しぐれ』で第27回日本レコード大賞最優秀歌唱賞を、以降も『天城越え』『風の盆恋歌』『夫婦善哉』と数々のヒット曲を送り出すなど、長年に渡り多くのファンを魅了してきた。その他、文化庁芸術祭（第56回：優秀賞『石川さゆり音楽会』/第62回：大賞『石川さゆり音楽会～歌芝居 飢餓海峡～』）や、第68回芸術選奨・大衆芸能部門文部科学大臣賞（平成29年度）、紫綬褒章（令和元年）の受賞を果たすなど、名実ともに日本の歌謡界を牽引している。 2020年のＮＨＫ大河ドラマ「麒麟がくる」で主人公・明智光秀の母、牧役を好演。第72回紅白歌合戦では紅組最多となる44回目の出場を果たした。 ==================================== Born on January 30 in Kumamoto Prefecture. She made her debut on March 25, 1973, with the single “Kakurenbo.” She has fascinated fans for many years with numerous hit songs. Notably, she won the “Singing Award” at the 19th Japan Record Awards for her iconic song “Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyugeshiki” (Tsugaru Strait Winter Scenery) and the “Best Singing Award” at the 27th Japan Record Awards for “Hatoba Shigure.” Her repertoire includes other masterpieces such as “Amagi Goe” (Crossing Amagi), “Kaze no Bon Koiuta,” and “Meoto Zenzai.” As a leading figure in the Japanese music industry, her artistic achievements have been recognized with prestigious honors. These include the Excellence Award (56th) and the Grand Prize (62nd) at the Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival, the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s Art Encouragement Prize (Popular Entertainment Category) in 2017, and the Medal with Purple Ribbon in 2019.(引用元)ランキングデータ
